Women’s Lacrosse Loses To Oneonta
NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz was limited to just two goals in Tuesday’s SUNYAC East women’s lacrosse showdown of unbeaten teams. The Hawks lost to defending SUNYAC Champion Oneonta, 13-2.
Junior attacker Stephanie Pignone had five goals and three assists, while Nicole Cali and Jaimee Semenetz added two goals each for Oneonta. Lynda Chase, Catherine Jacobs, Jen Reilly, and Jill Scala also scored for the Red Dragons, who improve to 2-3 (2-0 SUNYAC East).
Senior captain Kristy Green had a first half goal to raise her New Paltz-leading total to five for the season. Green has now scored in all three of (1-2 overall, 1-1 SUNYAC East) New Paltz’s matches. Melissa Butterweich added the Hawks’ other goal just before the end of regulation.
Freshman Adrian Grasso made 19 saves in the loss for New Paltz, while counterpart Michele Comuniello stopped 12 New Paltz shots for Oneonta.
New Paltz hosts Wells College tomorrow at 4 p.m.
