Hawks Drop Two In Softball

BROCKPORT — After losing 11-0 in game one, SUNY New Paltz rebounded to make the nightcap close, but fell again, 7-4, at Brockport on Saturday afternoon.

New Paltz (0-9 overall, 0-2 SUNYAC) finally got its offense rolling in game two. The Hawks collected eight hits for the game, including three apiece by the left side of their infield – sophomore third baseman Tricia Cascio and senior shortstop Kelly McFarlane. All four of the Hawks’ runs came in the fifth inning, when New Paltz had consecutive run-scoring singles by Cascio, McFarlane and freshman catcher Valerie Blackman.

NewPaltz will play a doubleheader at Geneseo on Sunday at 1 p.m., before returning home to host Plattsburgh for two games at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
