SUNY New Paltz to hold 16th annual Scholarship Golf Tournament
The State University of New York at New Paltz will hold the Doug Sheppard Classic Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament on Monday, June 9 at Wiltwyck Golf Club in Kingston, N.Y. Register online by Thursday, May 1 and get two tee signs for the price of one with your company’s logo. Proceeds from the event will go toward students who need financial assistance to continue their studies at SUNY New Paltz.
The $200 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf with cart, breakfast, on-course refreshments, cocktail reception, and awards banquet dinner. Each player is eligible for awards, contests and prizes that will be presented at the banquet dinner at 3 p.m. in the Wiltwyck Golf Club Ballroom. The banquet is open to non-golfers as well for $50. Golfers can register as individuals or in teams of up to four players.
Event registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. and the shotgun start of the four-person, scramble format takes place at 9 a.m.
In its 16th year, the tournament is named in memory of Doug Sheppard, longtime professor, administrator and coach. “Shep” was not only the golf coach for 32 years, but was also a golfer who was a fixture at local courses and tournaments in the area.
The event will be held rain or shine and is sponsored by Architecture +, Campus Auxiliary Services, IBEW, Liberty Mutual, Local 17, M&T Bank, NEEBO, Niram Inc., Siemens, Sodexo, Timely Signs, U.W. Marx Construction Company, and Wilmorite.
Last year’s tournament welcomed more than 120 teams and raised $40,000 in scholarship funding.
