Gonzalez elected the newest member of Foundation board
NEW PALTZ – Dan Gonzalez ’87 (Political Science) has been elected the newest member of the State University of New York at New Paltz Foundation board. Gonzalez is a managing director in the Washington, D.C. office of Mercury, where he offers strategic counsel to Fortune 100 companies and trade associations, as well as telecommunications, media, and technology companies, on all aspects of government relations, public affairs and regulation. Prior to joining the firm in 2009, Gonzalez served for nearly four years as chief of staff of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) under Chairman Kevin J. Martin and served for over a decade in various senior staff positions throughout the FCC.
Gonzalez joins fellow alumni Karen L. (Krause) Brody ’71, ‘80g (Art Education), Norman M. Blashka ’75 (Economics), Brent J. Cutler ’79, Barbara Geider ’94g (Educational Administration), Everton H. Henriques ’78 ’83g (Chemistry), Robert Jackson ’74 (Sociology), Ronald Law ’74 (Political Science), Brian McShane ’74 (English), and Kenneth D. Pasternak ’77 (Secondary Education). Community and business leaders on the Foundation board include Noah P. Dorsky, chairman, Marjorie S. Rovereto, Patrick J. Doulin, Arthur A. Anderson, Eli Basch, John C. Checklick, David A. Dorsky, Mickey Jamal, Michael T. Keegan, Anne Palmer, James A. Parrish, Barbara Scherr and Larry Wolinsky.
The New Paltz Foundation is a private, not for profit charity that raises and manages private contributions to enrich New Paltz. The Foundation raises funds for scholarships, faculty development, academic programs and events, and campus enhancements and acquisitions. Its assets are valued at $23.2 million, including a $9.2 million endowment.
