Call for faculty to develop master courses in fall 2025
SUNY New Paltz’s Division of Academic Affairs & Office of Instructional Technology are offering a paid opportunity valued at $3,000 each during the fall 2025 semester for up to 12 faculty to develop master courses for both undergraduate and graduate programs and achieve a designation as a “Master Course Developer.”
Master courses are designed to be shared with other faculty (although they can also be used by the developer) and are particularly helpful in departments where there is a frequent need to hire adjuncts who may have little time for online development and for whom having a master course template can be a valuable support. Courses where content is relatively standard across sections are best suited for master course development whereas they do not serve well for courses that may have significantly diverse topics or approaches from section to section.
Please note, some opportunities are also available to develop Master Course templates for seated courses, especially in areas where multiple seated sections are highly standard in delivery and make extensive use of Brightspace for course management.
If you are interested in this program or would like more information about it, speak with your division about what course and modality would be a best fit, then reach out to Instructional Support Technician Rich McElrath at mcelratr@newpaltz.edu to learn more about the program. Space is limited, so please send your inquiries as soon as possible.
