Gentsch and Harmon Crush School Records in the Albany Invite

ALBANY, NY- The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Albany Invite Saturday afternoon.  Joe Gentsch and Danielle Harmon both set new records in the 8k and 5k with their individual times.

On the men’s side, Gentsch set a school record in the 8k with a time of 25:29 finishing in 16th place.  The previous record was set in 2001 with a time of 26:15.  Jeff Raab finished in 134th place with a time of 28:00 and Shawn Green finished 142nd, 33 seconds behind RaabRobert Webster and Rob Grazier rounded out the top five runners for the Hawks in 143rd and 145thWebster crossed the finish line in 28:38 and Grazier finished in 28:54.  The men finished in 21st out of 24 teams.  The Hawks finished ahead of one Division I program in the race.

On the women’s side, Harmon set a school record in the 5k with a time of 19:05 finishing in 61st place.  The previous record was set in 2004 with a time of 19:36.  Lisa Cassaro finished in 76th place with a time of 19:19.  Nichole Wischoff, Sarah Wenger and Alexandra Berenis finished within five second of each other.  Wischoff crossed in 105th place at 20:18 followed by Wenger and Berenis in 108th and 109th with a 20:23.  The women finished 16th out of 24 teams.  The Hawks finished ahead of several Division I programs in the race.
