Academic Affairs issues call for Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities director

Call – Research, Scholarship & Creative Activities Director
12-month term, June 2024 – July 2025
The Provost and the Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities (RSCA) Advisory Board are soliciting applications for the position of RSCA Director. This is a one-year term starting in June 2024. The current director will help to onboard the incoming director.
Core Duties of the RSCA Director:
RSCA Grants: Solicit & review proposals for RSCA grants & scholarships that support student-faculty collaborations in research or creative activities. These include the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience award, Academic Year Undergraduate Research Experience award, Student Opportunity Grant, several student scholarships, and the Student Travel Award.
Student Research Symposium: Plan and host the annual SRS, as part of the broader Minds at Work day of events in early May, 2025.
Marketing: In partnership with the Office of Communications and Marketing, notify the campus community of the RSCA’s grants and events, and spotlight students involved in RSCA activities.
Program Development: Define the types of activities supported by the RSCA grants. Strengthen existing RSCA programs and/or develop new programs. Seek ways to broaden the program’s support of activities across all colleges on campus.
Faculty Development: Solicit & review applications for the annual Faculty Mentor Award. Support faculty development in ways related to mentoring students.
Assessment: Assess the success of faculty-student collaborative projects and the RSCA’s programs.
Supervise the half-time RSCA assistant, who manages grant purchases, travel awards, and other day-to-day operations.
This position includes a stipend ($3,500 AY, $1750 summer) and a course release each semester.
Submit a letter of application and a CV to Deb Gould (gouldd@newpaltz.edu) by April 15, 2024. The Advisory Board will review and make a recommendation to the Provost. We expect that applicants will be informed of the decision by early May 2024.
