Instructional Technology Accessibility Officer Kate Bohan earns award from SUNY Council of Chief Information Officers
SUNY New Paltz Instructional Technology Accessibility Officer Kate Bohan is the 2023 recipient of the SUNY Council of Chief Information Officers’ Individual Collaboration Award.
Bohan is being recognized for her contributions to the Science of Reading Center of Excellence, recently established at SUNY New Paltz’s School of Education.
Her role was to produce the digital content for the microcredential course program with campus and SUNY partners, which included designing the online course environment including layout and image selection, coordinating with School of Education faculty members, and ensuring the accessibility of the course.
Her efforts come at a time when the Science of Reading curriculum has become an integral part of New York State education. By spearheading an online pathway for K-12 educators to become well-versed in this method of literacy, Bohan created an engaging, interactive learning space that models online best practices and accessibility standards as it
provides vital knowledge and experience for teachers in the field.
Feedback from completers has been enormously positive.
