Plan ahead! Information about 2023-24 campus construction projects

Facilities Management has shared the above map highlighting campus construction projects in progress during the 2023-24 academic year, which may affect parking and getting around campus.

Read on for additional information about these projects.

Student Union Building

A significant project to renovate and reconfigure the third floor and Multipurpose Room (MPR) in the Student Union Building is scheduled to begin before the end of 2023. This project will include the creation of new meeting space and a lounge for student clubs, a new multicultural center and a new ESports center, as well as upgrades to the Food Pantry and faith and student services offices. The MPR renovation will include upgraded finishes that will improve aesthetics, lighting, sound, stage and flexibility of use. A new curtain will provide additional insulation to help our sustainability efforts. This project is scheduled to continue through mid-2025.

Residence Hall Renovations

Our ongoing series of renovations at Peregrine Complex residence halls has been underway for years, with each building seeing the replacement of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems for longevity and energy efficiency, and aesthetic transformations on the interiors and exteriors of the buildings.

The Awosting Hall renovation, which includes the addition of a fourth floor, is nearing completion and is scheduled to be done before the end of 2023. The Mohonk Hall renovation will begin shortly thereafter, and the building is forecast to reopen in 2025.

Jacobson Faculty Tower

A project to upgrade windows for energy efficiency on this 10-story building is scheduled to be completed by early 2024. The project also saw enhancements to lobby entry vestibules.

Wooster Hall

A project to remove and replace portions of the north exterior elevation and windows at Wooster Hall across from Old Main Quad is scheduled to begin during the spring 2024 semester and continue into the end of the year. This project will alleviate water infiltration issues in the building.

Roofing Projects

The upgrades at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art and College Theatre, replacing roofing and adding insulation to meet updated energy codes, are scheduled for completion in October 2023. Roofing upgrades at Faculty Office Building & Smiley Art Building were completed earlier this year.

The roofing project at College Terrace, also replacing material and adding insulation, is scheduled for completion by December 2023.

Elevator Repairs

Projects are underway now, or will be soon, to upgrade elevators in the Sojourner Truth Library, Student Union Building, Haggerty Administration Building, Smiley Art Buidling, Lecture Center, Coykendall Science Building and Bliss Hall.
