Men’s Volleyball Wins Two; Extends Win Streak to Seven

The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team traveled to Boston, MA on Saturday for a tri-match with Johnson & Wales and host Emmanuel. The Hawks defeated Johnson and Wales in the first match 3-0 (30-25, 30-19, 30-19) and came back to defeat Emmanuel 3-2 (25-30, 33-35, 30-26, 30-20, 15-13). New Paltz improves to 21-11 on the season and extends their win streak to seven.

Junior Dan Liberto paced the attack against Johnson & Wales with 10 kills on 17 attempts. Senior Mark Blair added six kills, nine digs and two aces and Mike Fink totaled six kills and six digs. First year Frank Ciccone dished out 29 assists.

First year Kevin Stross registered 22 kills on 38 attempts and added six block assists against Emmanuel. Liberto finished with 20 kills, five digs and four block assists and senior Ryan Huberty added 16 kills and eight digs. Sophomore Andrew Cassius handed out 61 assists in the victory.

New Paltz will return to action on Thursday March 26th when they travel to New Haven for a 7pm non-conference matchup.
