Upgrade your Webex experience at OIT webinars, Oct. 8 & 9
For many SUNY New Paltz students and employees, 2020 has been a crash course in using Webex for remote teaching, learning, meeting and collaborating.
This week, the Office of Instructional Technology will help faculty and staff get even more familiar with the program, at two webinars showcasing new Webex features and upgrades.
The webinars will be offered on the following dates. Please click the link of the session you’d like to attend and enter your registration information to receive the meeting link.
Some of the new features we’ll be discussing include:
Blackboard Integration
- Students can get to their synchronous web-classes right from Blackboard – you don’t need to send them specific invites or links.
- You can define office hours and students can sign-up for a private session with you.
- Recordings can be stored automatically in Blackboard.
Breakout Rooms in Webex Meetings
- Randomly or manually assign students to breakout sessions.
- Set timed sessions and use a countdown timer.
- “Broadcast” to all sessions by sending a pop-up message.
Automated Real-Time Captioning
- Webex is piloting real-time captioning using AI to provide closed captioning and a running transcript during the web-conference session (Pilot licenses are available by request while they last).
