As part of the campus-wide response to the COVID-19 pandemic and need for innovative remote teaching and learning practices, this year’s Peer Advising team will mobilize earlier than usual to help incoming students make a successful transition to New Paltz.
CSS Peer Advisors will be available for online consultations from Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23, from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m., to assist incoming transfer students with supplemental fall registration support via Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
New transfer students can connect with a Peer Advisor by logging into Blackboard and clicking on the Center for Student Success community link.

Peer Advisors will be available to answer questions about registration tools such as My Schedule Planner and Progress Report while providing peer-to-peer guidance and support.
Each year, the Center for Student Success recruits, trains, and deploys a team of new and returning Peer Advisors who serve as academic coaches in the learning center, provide pre-advisement and registration guidance to their peers in Wooster Hall, and present topical programming in the residence halls.
This multifaceted role provides students with a valuable leadership development opportunity grounded in reflective practice, ongoing coaching, with ample opportunities to develop skills and competencies for college and career.
Center for Student Success staff is exploring additional ways to connect Peer Advisors to new incoming students using Starfish, to enhance their classmates’ academic success through the challenging new academic year.
This important relationship building is part of the Center’s and the College’s commitment to providing every student with a personalized educational experience, and educating each student as a unique and whole person.
