The Center for Student Engagement opens at New Paltz
Effective July 1, 2020, the Center for Student Engagement is open for business!
The Center for Student Engagement strives to create inclusive and innovative opportunities for students to build connections and create community through meaningful involvement, personal development, and co-curricular learning. The Center oversees student leadership and activities, orientation and new student programs, community and civic engagement, intercultural relations, and Student Union Building operations.

Staffing for the new Center is as follows:
Director, Mike Patterson (until Dec 31. On Jan 1 Mike becomes the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs)

Assistant Director of Community and Civic Engagement, Erica Wagner (Erica will support community service, voter registration, the Co-Curricular Transcript program, and relevant student organization activities)
Assistant Director of Intercultural Relations, Vacant (This position will provide direct support to students from diverse backgrounds individually and through cultural and ethnic-interest student organizations, diversity and inclusion training for students including mandatory training during orientation, and assumes oversight for the award-winning Stepping Into Diversity leadership development program.)

Other elements of the Student Affairs reorganization take effect today as well:
Michelle Combs, previous Director of the Center for Student Development*, is now the new Director of Student Conduct, reporting to Robin Cohen-La Valle.
Robin Cohen-La Valle’s title changes from Dean of Students to Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students (AVPDOS). In addition to supervising Student Conduct Robin will continue to oversee the Disability Resource Center, with added responsibility for the Student Health Center and the Psychological Counseling Center. This change is driven largely by a need for dedicated attention to student well-being. By creating the Director of Student Conduct position, the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students position is better able to focus on coordinated and intentional prevention, outreach and intervention with regard to the holistic health and wellness of students.
Career Resources will report directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs
Linda Eaton remains the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs through Dec 31, 2020.
