A Request from University Police

SUNY New Paltz is publishing important messages and news updates related to the College’s response to COVID-19 on the campus news website. Use this link to view all these posts in one place.

The update below was shared by the University Police Department on Wednesday, March 18.

Campus community members can view updates at the Coronavirus Information and Coronavirus FAQs webpages, which are being updated regularly as this situation evolves.

To the SUNY New Paltz Campus Community;

In an effort to protect law enforcement and members of the community from the potential spread of COVID-19, UPD has restricted public access to the UPD Service Building entry doors. In order to visit the station, there will be a phone in the vestibule that directly contacts the UPD dispatcher to report your request. Your request will either be handled over the phone or an officer will come to you. UPD continues to operate 24/7 and a dispatcher is always on duty to answer your calls. The department is trying to limit unnecessary contact while still providing necessary police services for the campus community, therefore we are asking that members of the community report less urgent matters or service requests over the phone to our non-emergency line at x2222 (845-257-2222) instead. In addition, if you require copies of records or reports, please call x3802 (845-257-3802) for assistance.

We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience as we practice Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for law enforcement so that we can keep our University Police staff healthy to enable us to continue to perform our duties for the campus community.

Sincerely,

Mary Ritayik
Chief of Police
