Mazurowski and Clouston Take All-Tourney Honors
NEW PALTZ, NY — Junior middle hitter Christina Mazurowski (Tonawanda, NY) and sophomore outside hitter Kim Clouston (Baldwinsville, NY) were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Oneonta Invitational last weekend.
Mazurowski averaged 2.6 kills, 0.50 blocks and had a .306 hitting percentage. She had 12 kills and two blocks in a 3-2 win over Kings College in the opening match of the tournament. Mazurowski also had 14 kills and a .481 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory over Baruch.
Clouston averaged 3.0 kills and 1.6 digs per game in the tournament. She had 10 kills and four blocks in a 3-0 loss to conference rival Geneseo. In her finest effort of the tournament, Clouston had 14 kills and hit .294 to lead the Hawks to a 3-0 victory over Clarkson.
With Mazurowski and Clouston leading the way, SUNY New Paltz won three of its four matches in the tournament. The Hawks need five games to defeat Kings College in the opening match of the tournament. After dropping the first game 30-21, SUNY New Paltz went on to win its next two games, 30-15 and 30-27. Kings College won the fourth game 31-29 to set up the fifth and deciding game.
The Hawks also registered two, 3-0 wins. SUNY New Paltz defeated Baruch, 30-21, 30-20, 31-29 and Clarkson, 30-28, 30-25, 30-23.
SUNY New Paltz suffered its lone defeat to Geneseo. The Blue Knights prevailed 30-12, 30-24, 30-18.
The SUNY New Paltz women’s volleyball team is 14-5 and ranked sixth in the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) poll.
The Hawks will face New Jersey City University on Tuesday (Oct. 5) at 7:00 p.m.
