First Annual Art Auction to feature student and faculty artwork
NEW PALTZ — The Student Art Alliance at the State University of New York at New Paltz will host the First Annual Art Auction from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, at the Chandler Gallery of the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art (SDMA). This event is a part of Inauguration and Arts Week.
Beginning at 5 p.m., a silent auction of juried artwork from New Paltz undergraduate and graduate students will be held. A live auction of artwork by faculty, alumni and regional artists will follow the silent auction in Parker Theatre (across from the SDMA).
Greg Kuharic, former head of 20th Century Decorative Arts at Sotheby’s Auction House, and appraiser for the television program Antiques Road Show, will be the auctioneer.
Both events are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served at Parker Theatre at 7 p.m.
