Hawks Place Four on NFHCA Academic Squad
NEW PALTZ, NY — Four members of the SUNY New Paltz field hockey team were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Academic Squad.
Seniors Allison and Lisa Taub (Greenlawn, NY), sophomore Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) and freshman Krista Priestley (Kingston, NY) were honored for having a minimum cumulative grade-point-average of 3.3 through the first semester of the 2003-04 academic year.
Allison Taub, an art education major, was a second team All-SUNYAC selection this year. Taub was a key member of the Hawks defensive unit who chipped in three points on a goal and an assist.
An elementary education major, Lisa Taub finished second on the team in scoring with 14 points (6 goals, 2 assists) and started all 17 games at midfield.
Jackson-Buckner, a secondary education major, led the team with six assists and finished third on the team in scoring with 10 points. She started 16 games at the attack position for the Hawks.
Priestley played in 10 games as a midfielder and had one goal in her first year with the program. She is pursuing a degree in elementary education.
