SUNY New Paltz Indoor Track & Field Teams Compete at Tufts Invitational
MEDFORD, MA — The SUNY New Paltz men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed in the Tufts Invitational this afternoon. Both squads had several great individual performances in their final meet before the SUNYAC Championships on Saturday, February 21st in Geneva, NY.
In the men’s meet, freshman Anthony Bryant (Norwich, NY) sprinted around the track in 51.86 seconds to finish second in the 400 meters. He also placed seventh in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, 7 ¼ inches.
Senior John Zarella (Mahopac, NY) and junior Josh Moore (Woodburne, NY) had fine performances for the Hawks as well. Zarella ran to a fourth place finish in the 1000 meter run in a time of 2:43.39 and Moore came in 15th in the weight throw with a toss of 35 feet, 5 inches.
In the women’s meet, New Paltz had five top-five finishes by three different athletes. Sophomore Musu Jackson-Buckner (Buffalo, NY) headlined the Hawks effort by winning the 400 meters in a blistering time of 59.86 seconds. She also came in second in the 200 meters with a time of 26.81.
Senior Natasha Dudar (New Paltz, NY) soared to a third place finish in the long jump (15 feet, 11 ¾ inches) and was fourth in the triple jump (32 feet, 7 ½ inches).
Junior Christina Butcher (North Salem, NY) rounded out the top five finishes with a fifth place effort in the 55 meter hurdles in a time of 9.32 seconds.
