SUNY New Paltz Women’s Swimming Team Places 3rd at RPI Invitational
TROY, NY — The SUNY New Paltz women’s swimming team placed third among eight teams with 235 points at the 2004 RPI Invitational held at Robinson Pool on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this afternoon. Connecticut College took home the team title with 340 points.
New Paltz had several great performances as they finished among the top three in eight events. Junior Danielle Lindner (Wantagh, NY) led the Hawks effort with a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:12.55 and came in second in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 2:03.06.
Lindner teamed up with junior Mallory Grempel (Babylon, NY), sophomore Joanna Masterson (Canandaigua, NY) and freshman Liz Delia (Oswego, NY) to finish in first place in the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:09.55.
Masterson and Delia finished in second place in a combined three individual events. Masterson ripped through the water in 25.00 in the 50-yard freestyle and in 55.75 in the 100-yard freestyle while Delia swam the 200-yard individual medley in 2:16.70.
Freshman Nevine Roberts (Pound Ridge, NY) earned a second place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:18.70.
The Hawks concluded the afternoon with a third place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:56.40 behind the foursome of Roberts, junior Andrea Ditter (New Paltz, NY), and freshmen Claire Gerard (Stony Point, NY) and Ashley Williamson (Holland Patent, NY).
