Men’s Basketball Splits Two On Road
BUFFALLO — The SUNY New Paltz men’s basketball team split two key SUNYAC contests over the weekend in Western New York.
After easily defeating Fredonia, 62-50, on Friday night, the Hawks fell to Buffalo State, 88-76, on Saturday afternoon.
In Saturday’s contest, New Paltz trailed 45-21 at the half, and shot just 32 percent over the first 20 minutes. After the intermission, though, the (10-9 overall, 7-8 SUNYAC) Hawks connected on nearly 58 percent of their shots to get as close as eight points twice.
With the loss, New Paltz drops into a tie with Buffalo State for ninth-place in the SUNYAC standings with just five conference games remaining. The top eight teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament, Feb. 25-27 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
