New Paltz lands in top 20 on Niche’s list of hardest NY colleges to get into
Niche.com, a popular peer-review platform widely used by prospective students and parents to compare and evaluate colleges and universities, has released its 2017 list of the hardest colleges to get into.
SUNY New Paltz was named number 18 among all New York State schools, the third-highest ranking among SUNY colleges.
Niche pulled data from the U.S. Department of Education to devise a formula that weighted acceptance rate and SAT/ACT percentiles for enrolled students. Read more about their methodology here.
New Paltz is strong on these metrics, with a very selective 42% acceptance rate and test score requirements above the average for SUNY institutions.
Niche is unique among online college ranking and evaluation tools, as it is fueled primarily by user feedback and reviews, in addition to national, publically accessible statistics. It is increasingly cited by new and prospective students as an important tool for learning more about the colleges they apply to.
As of this posting, 1,241 people have reviewed SUNY New Paltz on Niche. More than half of all reviewers rated the College as a four- or five-star institution, and fully 93% awarded New Paltz at least three stars.
