SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team Falls to Fredonia State, 3-0
FREDONIA, NY — The Fredonia State Blue Devils got a goal from three different players in a 3-0 win over SUNYAC rival SUNY New Paltz.
Sophomore forward Jessica Weiser (Rochester, NY) gave Fredonia (7-3-0, 1-2-0) a 1-0 lead at 35:14 of the first half off a crossing pass by senior midfielder Mikelle Huber (Dublin, OH). The Blue Devils opened up a 2-0 lead at the 34:28 mark of the second half on an unassisted goal by freshman midfielder Tracy Grimes (Rochester, NY). Junior midfielder Katie Remus (Grand Island, NY) ended the scoring with her fourth goal of the season with 6:34 remaining in the second half off an assist from junior forward Jamie Pricola (Brockport, NY).
New Paltz (1-8-1, 1-2-0) was outshot, 22-10, by Fredonia including a 14-2 margin in the second half. Blue Devils goalkeeper Brianna Falvey (Chittenango, NY) made six saves in the victory while Hawks junior goalkeeper Maggie Fenton stopped eight shots in the loss.
