SUNY New Paltz will be the site of a workshop and training course dedicated to helping regional architects and engineers design more energy-efficient buildings.
The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 22 in the Student Union Building, Room 62/63.
The training, titled “Conquer the Code,” is offered by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in response to new revisions to New York State’s Energy Conservation Construction Code. It provides critical knowledge about significant changes, new provisions and best practices to avoid objections and stalled projects.
The “Conquer the Code” workshop will cover basics of energy code design and construction requirements, with suggestions for navigating the code and finding relevant information, evaluating the right compliance path for different types of projects, proper documentation to ensure compliance and what to anticipate during progress inspections.
Completion of the one-day course is approved for 7.0 Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI) continuing education credits, and 7.0 American Institute of Architects Health, Safety, Welfare and Learning Unit Hours.
Advanced registration is required for participation in “Conquer the Code.” The $75 course fee includes a course manual. Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code book.
