Sacred Heart Gets Past Hawks In Three Games

FAIRFIELD, CT — The host Pioneers swept the SUNY New Paltz Hawks 3-0 (30-18, 30-20, 31-29) Wednesday night at the Pitt Center in Fairfield, CT.

Junior Michael Burns (East Providence, RI) had a team-high 10 kills on the evening to lead Sacred Heart.

Michael Gardner (Brookfield, WI) hit .667 for the match and picked up five blocks while Matthew Snyder (Gibbsboro, NJ) finished with eight kills and Patrick Bihn (Floral Park, NY) had seven.

For the Hawks, Chris Grunwald (St. James, NY) and Rob Deitrich (San Jose, CA) each had seven kills. Chris Ganje (Halfmoon, NY) contributed six kills and Tim Matthews (Churchville, NY) added five.

The Pioneers improve to 11-9 on the season. New Paltz drops their season mark to 3-22.

The Hawks will close out their season Wednesday at Elting Gymnasium against Steven’s Tech beginning at 6:00 p.m.
