Hawks Pick Up First Win
NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz women’s soccer team got its first victory of the season Tuesday with a 9-0 thrashing of Farmingdale.
The Hawks dominated play in the opening half but were unable to take the lead until the 32:51 mark on a goal by Lauren Pastore (Levittown, NY). Less than three minutes later, Nicole Corvaia (Centereach, NY) made it 2-0 on a pass from Winnie Lento (Patchogue, NY).
New Paltz wasted little time in the second half scoring less than a minute from the opening whistle on a goal from Karalyn Kudlak (Glen Head, NY). The Hawks got goals later in the half from Courtney Muller (Lake Grove, NY) in the 54th minute and Amanda Picarelli (Miller Place, NY) in the 64th minute before Lauren Martone (Hastings, NY) netted two in a row in the 69th and 71st minutes. Danielle Marino (Selden, NY) and Maria Puccio (Malverne, NY) closed out the scoring with goals in the final twelve minutes for the 9-0 final score.
Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) got the shutout in goal for the Hawks without registering a save.
