‘On Campus @ SUNY New Paltz’ showcases Summer Repertory Theatre on July 11 show
NEW PALTZ — “On Campus @ SUNY New Paltz,” a 30-minute television show that airs weekly on Time Warner Cable’s channel 6, will feature the 2002 Summer Repertory Theatre in its next episode on Thursday, July 11.
Interim President Steven Poskanzer will host the show. His guests include Emeritus Professor Frank Kraat (Theatre Arts), Adjunct Professor Steve Kitsakos, the theatre department’s musical director, and 2002 SUNY New Paltz graduate Chandra Russell of Lodi, NY, who plays “Suzanne” in the production of “Picasso at the Lapin Agile,” one of three summer productions in the summer repertory program.
The guests will discuss the origin of New Paltz’s Summer Repertory Theatre, now in its 28th season, and talk about how the program has evolved over the years. The summer program, which opened June 20 and continues through Aug. 3, is a community endeavor. Performers include professional actors, performers from the regional theatre community and students in the Department of Theatre Arts.
The show begins at 9 p.m. following the Cable 6 Evening News.
“On Campus @ SUNY New Paltz” began in 1997 and is a production of United Media Artists, a group of staff, mostly from Instructional Media Services, and students who volunteer their talents. The show focuses on news and events of the campus community and, over the years, has featured many faculty and student research projects and activities.
