Tennis Pounds Oswego
NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz men’s tennis evened its record at 4-4 Friday with a 9-0 thrashing of Oswego.
#1, #2, #3, and #6 singles players Ed Paulinski (Floral Park, NY), Tiby Taran (Brooklyn Kings, NY), Brad Breakstone (Mount Kisco, NY), and Josh Greenspan (North Babylon, NY) rolled through their singles matches dropping just six total games between them. Paulinski defeated Mark Prestopnik 6-0, 6-2, Taran beat Kyle Mazza 6-1, 6-1, Breakstone crushed Jeff Reynolds 6-0, 6-0, and Greenspan defeated Adam Webster 6-1, 6-1. New Paltz sophomores Bobby Calise (East Islip, NY), and Brian Palmenteri (Howard Beach, NY) also won for the Hawks. Calise took Pat Martin 7- 5, 6-3, and Palmenteri beat Ben Grieco 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, Paulinski and Taran shutout Prestopnik and Mazza 8-0, Breakstone and Calise beat Reynolds and Martin 8- 3, and Palmenteri and David Bridglall (Bronx, NY) beat Grieco and Webster 8-5.
New Paltz will play again tomorrow at Rutgers starting at 1:00pm.
