Geneseo, Brockport Hand Hawks Losses In Lacrosse
GENESEO, BROCKPORT — Geneseo and Brockport raced out to huge first half leads against the New Paltz women’s lacrosse team and handed the Hawks two losses over the weekend.
On Friday, Geneseo shut down the Hawk offense, limiting them to just four shots the entire game. The Hawks made the most of their opportunities though, capitalizing on three of their four shots on goal. Megan Porter (Massapequa, NY), Sam Quinn (Lindenhurst, NY), and Katie Sharp (Mineola, NY) each had a goal apiece, and Adrian Grasso (Oceanside, NY) made 12 saves for New Paltz in the 19-3 loss.
On Saturday, the Hawks were beaten 17-7 by the Golden Eagles. Brockport ran up a 12-3 halftime lead and hung on for the win despite the Hawks outscoring them in the second half 4-2. Mary Warren (Mineola, NY) and Katie Sharp (Mineola, NY) each had two goals apiece to lead New Paltz. Jillian Sheppard (Stony Brook, NY), Jackie Bunzel (Massapequa, NY), and Megan Porter chipped in with one each and Grasso made 16 saves.
Women’s lacrosse will next face Cortland on Tuesday on the road at 4:00pm.
