Popular Jazz Concert Features SUNY Faculty
NEW PALTZ — The Faculty Jazz Concert is a long-standing tradition at SUNY New Paltz, and one that always attracts a crowd. On Tuesday, March 5, 2002 the Department of Music presents the Faculty Jazz Concert in the Julien J. Studley Theatre at 8:00 PM. Tickets go on sale at 7:00 PM in the lobby of the theatre.
The concert features original works and arrangements, including compositions by faculty members, side-by-side with classic jazz standards. Traditionally, the evening’s program is as improvisational as the music-faculty members draw on their years of experience teaching and performing in order to give the audience a taste of the variety and complexity of jazz. Performers include Jazz Studies Director Mark Dziuba, guitar; Vinnie Martucci, piano; Jeff Siegel, drums; David CasTiglione, saxophone; John Menegon, bass; Teri Roiger, vocals; and Tom Dempsey, guitar. The players invariably break into smaller groups that highlight various instrumental combinations and playing styles.
Seating is first-come, first-served, so arrive early for the best seats. Prices are as follows: $10 general admission, $8 senior citizens and SUNY faculty/staff, and $4 SUNY students.
