Buff St., Fredonia Defeat Women’s Basketball
NEW PALTZ — The women’s basketball team suffered two losses to visiting Buffalo State and Fredonia over the weekend falling Friday 69-47 and Saturday 71-50. The Lady Hawks’ SUNYAC record now sits at 2-6 and 3-11 overall.
Friday, Buffalo State entered the game leading the conference at 5-0. The Bengals broke out to an early lead and never looked back leading by fifteen at half and finishing with a 22-point win. Silver Williams (Newburgh, NY) had 13 points to pace the Lady Hawks and Lindsay Dakin (Andover, CT) added 12.
Saturday against Fredonia, the Hawks were kept in the game by the play of Williams. In the first half alone, Williams had 18 of her team’s 28 points. She finished the game hitting 11 of 16 from the field for 27 points accounting for more than half of her team’s offensive output. Maura McShane (East Rockaway, NY) was the only other player in double figures for the Hawks with 10.
New Paltz plays again Tuesday at Cortland before returning home for games Friday and Saturday against Oswego and Geneseo.
