New Paltz Sculpture Program’s Eco Art Class seeks input from the campus community on outdoor lab design
The Sculpture Program’s Eco Art class are a team of student artists and faculty working to design an outdoor living-learning laboratory on campus, known as the Eco Art Lab.
“We envision the Eco Art Lab as an accessible, ecologically vibrant classroom sited outdoors between Parker Theatre and the Fine Arts Building,” said Associate Professor Emily Puthoff. “As co-designers of this space, we welcome voices across campus to help design a space that promotes collaboration, biodiversity and interconnection.”
“It is crucial to us that the campus community is deeply involved in shaping this project,” said eco-collaborator Ripley Butterfield ‘26 (Contract).
The Eco Arts class are conducting interviews and listening sessions with students, faculty, staff and other visitors on campus. The goal is to present a design to you at the end of the semester for feedback.
