Accelerated Pathways at SUNY New Paltz: A new way for students to start working toward their master’s degree as undergraduates
SUNY New Paltz is offering a newly expanded (and still growing!) set of Accelerated Pathway Programs that let students earn credits toward their graduate degree while still working toward their bachelor’s.
The Accelerated Pathway is designed to save students time and money by allowing them to earn up to 12 credits that apply to both their undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher will be eligible to register for an Accelerated Pathway.
Many degree programs are already included in the Accelerated Pathway, and more being added regularly. The new Accelerated Pathway website includes a dual search tool by participating undergraduate programs and by destination graduate degree.
Additionally, the “what-if” tab in the student Progress Report can now be used to see if there is an Accelerated Pathway version of the student’s declared major.
The new Accelerated Pathways builds and expands on the model that was previously referred to as “4+1” at SUNY New Paltz.
Interested in learning more? Students are encouraged to discuss Accelerated Pathways with their advisor so they can update their major declaration.
Faculty who are interested in creating a new undergraduate-to-graduate Accelerated Pathway are invited to contact Vika Shock (shockv@newpaltz.edu), Executive Director of Academic Planning & Innovation and Assistant Dean of Graduate, Professional & Interdisciplinary Studies, for a consultation.
Students can also make an appointment to talk with a Graduate Admission Advisor at this link.
