PianoSummer at SUNY New Paltz will return in July 2024
The 2024 PianoSummer at SUNY New Paltz series will take place from July 8 – 26, with a full schedule of marquee classical music performances given by some of the most adored and prestigious musicians working in the world today.
PianoSummer is an annual, international music program integrating learning and performance under the artistic direction of Vladimir Feltsman. The long-running program brings the best emerging young pianists from around the world to come study and perform in the Hudson Valley.
Student musicians interested in taking part in this rare opportunity can apply online at this link. Applications will be accepted from March 1 – April 7, 2024.
Accepted students will enjoy individual lessons from PianoSummer faculty, free tuition and lodging for the three weeks of the program, and entry into the Jacob Flier Piano Competition, a yearly contest for pianists under the age of 32 named after Feltsman’s teacher and mentor.
This year’s Jacob Flier Piano Competition will consist of two rounds of performance, both open to the public on Monday, July 15, and Wednesday, July 17, at 3 p.m. The winner will earn a solo debut recital at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Other highlights for fans of piano music include an appearance from the competition’s first event winner, Daria Rabotkina, an assistant professor of piano at Texas State University, who will provide a guest artist recital on July 20. One more guest artist recital will take place on July 26, with acclaimed pianist Alexander Korsantia.
Then there’s the Faculty Gala on Saturday, July 13, at 7 p.m., where PianoSummer founder Vladimir Feltsman and the rest of the PianoSummer faculty will perform a variety of classical pieces
