Be a candidate! 2024-25 Student Association Executive Board and Senate elections approaching

Hello SUNY New Paltz students,

The process for the Student Association elections for 2024-2025 are underway! We want to inform you all about the positions we have open in this cycle! Any student can run for these positions by completing a Candidacy Form.

The Student Association is the primary student governing body of SUNY New Paltz. We are composed of three branches: the Executive Board, the Senate, and the Judicial Board. The Student Association has many responsibilities, such as overseeing the $1.4 million budget made up of the student activity fee, writing and passing legislation regarding issues on campus, and meeting with the college administration to discuss current affairs and be a voice for the student body. This is a wonderful leadership opportunity to build your communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills as well as network on campus. Position descriptions are all outlined in the Candidacy Form.

The following Executive Board positions that will be open during elections are:

· President

· Executive Vice President

· Vice President of Academic Affairs and Governance

· Vice President for Finance

· Vice President of Programming

· Vice President of Marketing and Communication

The following Student Senator Representative positions that will be open during elections are:

· 14 Residence Halls Representatives (one per hall)

· 2 College of Liberal Arts & Sciences

· 1 School of Business

· 1 School of Education

· 1 School of Fine & Performing Arts

· 1 School of Science & Engineering

· 4 Undergraduate Student Class Representatives (1 per class) based on Credits: Freshman (0-30), Sophomore (31-60), Junior (61-90), Senior (91+)

· 2 Representatives Elected at Large

· 1 Graduate Student

· 2 Commuter Students

· 1 International Student

· 1 Transfer Student

Candidacy forms are available on engage and the deadline to submit is Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024 at 12 p.m. Voting will take place March 17-21 at 12 p.m.
