Sojourner Truth Library agreement with Cambridge University Press supports faculty authorship
The Sojourner Truth Library has entered into an agreement with Cambridge University Press to waive article processing charges for SUNY New Paltz authors to support open access.
Authors who wish to publish their accepted article as open access or hybrid typically pay the author processing charges to cover the cost of publishing on behalf of the reader. Under this new agreement, those charges will be waived for New Paltz authors.
Cambridge University Press is the oldest university press in the world and a global leader in research and academic publishing. They publish journals under three main access policies: closed access (standard subscription), open access (freely accessible to the reader online), and a hybrid model in which an article in an otherwise closed access journal is available under open access terms.
Open access has many benefits including increasing the visibility and reach of scholarly work since readers face fewer barriers to access.
An added value is that authors retain their copyright, allowing them to freely share and adapt their article.
For eligibility and terms see How to Publish Open Access Under this Agreement from Cambridge University Press and Cambridge Transformative Agreement from STL.
Librarians have also created an Open Access Guide for reference. Additional questions can be directed to Ask a Librarian.
This agreement also provides support for all SUNY New Paltz researchers, including students, by providing Sojourner Truth Library users with access to over 400 CUP journals, including perpetual access to all volumes published from 2023-2025.
