Support our Hawks! Two afternoon playoff games (and a food truck!) on campus, Nov. 3

The top-ranked SUNY New Paltz Field Hockey team and the No. 2 seed Men’s Soccer team have home playoff contests in the afternoon on Wednesday, Nov. 3, and the Department of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation is looking to bring the energy.

Fans who come out to cheer for the Hawks can pick up a New Paltz Rally Towel for $5 at each game, and grab a bite from Lucy’s Food Truck (@lucysfoodtruckhv), who will be set up in the Lenape Hall parking lot.

As for the games, both teams come in favored against SUNY Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) rivals, with a chance to move on to the conference championship at stake.

At 1 p.m. on South Turf Field, Men’s Soccer takes on SUNY Oswego. The Hawks are a perfect 7-0 at home this season, and also notched a road win against Oswego on Oct. 22.

“Practices have been great this week,” said Coach Kyle Clancy for the NPHawks game preview. “To have this opportunity to compete in these do or die games with everything on the line is what these guys play for.”

Field Hockey’s contest against SUNY Oneonta starts at 1:30 p.m. over on the North Turf Field. This group heads to postseason play after one of the best years in program history: a 14-2 season including a 6-0 record against SUNYAC competition. It was their first-ever undefeated conference season, good enough to earn a national ranking in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll.

“The more we play together, the more we get that synergy going, the better we’ve been playing,” said senior midfielder Morgan Gunter ’22 (Psychology; Sociology). “I feel like we’re peaking at a very perfect time, so I think we’re recognizing our potential now.” Full game preview here.

This is the first time in years that all New Paltz fall sports teams have made the playoffs at the same time, and the first day in recent memory with two home playoff games in the same afternoon.

Whether you’re a huge sports fan or just want to see our student-athletes succeed, we hope you can come out!
