Campus topographic survey using drones will take place on Nov. 24
On Wednesday, Nov. 24, SUNY New Paltz has invited MJ Engineering and Land Surveying to campus to conduct an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) survey for topographic mapping.
Students, faculty and staff who are on campus that day are advised that these UAS units – known colloquially as drones – will be in use for an estimated two hours in mid-morning.
While the survey should have minimal impact on campus activities, personnel from MJ will be directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic away from the areas where drones are in use.
In case of inclement weather on Nov. 24, the survey will take place on Sunday, Nov. 28.
