Life’s been weird, let’s make zines: The Sojourner Truth Library Zine-a-Thon Returns

The Sojourner Truth Library is bringing back one of its most popular traditions and keeping a DIY art form alive with the fall 2021 Zine-a-Thon, a celebration of short, self-published print work of all kinds.

The program begins right before Halloween, running from Wednesday, Oct. 27, to Saturday, Oct. 30.

The Zine-a-Thon is open to all students, whether you’re a first-time zine-maker who is looking for materials and support to bring your idea to life, or an experienced creator interested in getting involved with a community of zine-lovers at New Paltz.

Want to get involved? All you need to do is sign up here.

Zine-a-Thon starts with a tutorial workshop on Oct. 27 at 4 p.m., where you can get some supplies and tips for creating your own, original zine. If you prefer to design digitally, feel free to bring a laptop or use a computer on the Main Floor of the Library.

Students will have three days to work on their vision and return it to the Library by Oct. 30 at 2 p.m.

Everyone who turns in their finished product can get up to 20 copies of their zine to keep or share. You can also share with other creators by participating in a zine swap, getting 10 copies of your own zine and 10 randomly selected zines from fellow makers.
