Creating and Manifesting Belonging: A Distinguished Speaker Series event with Darnisa Amante-Jackson, Nov. 10
The SUNY New Paltz Distinguished Speaker Series proudly presents an evening with Darnisa Amante-Jackson, a racial equity strategist, educator and reverberating voice for the disenfranchised, on Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021.
The event will be held virtually from 5 – 6 p.m. All are welcome to attend, and pre-registration is required using this link.
General admission is complimentary, with a $10 suggested donation to the SUNY New Paltz Foundation, which supports future educational programs for our students. As always, New Paltz students may attend this Distinguished Speaker Series event free of charge.
“The Culture of DEI: Creating and Manifesting Belonging”
Amante-Jackson’s talk will explore the meaning of diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity (DBIE) and how it can it be achieved. She will also discuss the importance of building and maintaining the trust of people from underrepresented groups, who often bear the burden of diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity work.
This will be a thought-provoking and interactive session focusing on themes including:
The four I’s of oppression
How to build and sustain a culture of equity
How one can deepen and embed diversity, belonging, inclusion and equity strategies into classrooms, campuses, and communities.
A tireless champion of the BIPOC community, Darnisa Amante-Jackson is Founder and CEO of The Disruptive Equity Education Project (DEEP) and DEEP Corporate Consulting Partners.
Her Distinguished Speaker Series event promises deep learning and opportunity for substantial growth for the entire New Paltz community.

New Paltz faculty are invited to include this talk in their planned class activities on Nov. 10. The virtual event can be viewed from any classroom on campus, and students and professors can submit questions through the chat.
