PianoSummer returns July 12-16 with new virtual format
PianoSummer at SUNY New Paltz, the international program dedicated solely to piano music, returns July 12-16, 2021, after postponing programming in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s program is completely virtual and free of charge. All student enrollees will take lessons remotely from the PianoSummer faculty, and recorded performances will be published on YouTube for all members of the public to enjoy.
The series kicks off on Monday, July 12, at 7 p.m., with the Faculty Gala premiere, featuring pre-recorded performances by Artistic Director Vladimir Feltsman and longtime faculty colleagues Robert Hamilton, Phillip Kawin, Alexander Korsantia and Paul Ostrovsky.
Then on Friday, July 16, the students will showcase their own skills with a virtual recital concluding PianoSummer 2021.
“All of us at PianoSummer have been missing seeing and interacting with you,” Feltsman said. “We’re excited to be able to offer a virtual program this year, and look forward to next July, when we hope to resume our festival in its regular format.”
