Orientation is right around the corner! Here’s what it will look like this year
The Center for Student Engagement is planning now for Orientation 2021, with a slightly modified structure mixing online and on-campus activities as we welcome the next class of SUNY New Paltz students into our community.
You can find more information about summer Orientation online at https://www.newpaltz.edu/orientation/, or follow @nporientation.
First-Year Orientation
This year the College will introduce a new first-year Orientation structure, with a slightly reduced in-person schedule (two days and one night on campus) and more modules that can be completed online.
Sessions will begin in July and run according to the following schedule:
Session 1: Wednesday, July 7 – Thursday, July 8
Session 2: Monday, July 12 – Tuesday, July 13
Session 3: Thursday, July 15 – Friday, July 16
Session 4: Tuesday, July 20 – Wednesday, July 21
Session 5: Monday, July 26 – Tuesday, July 27
Session 6: Thursday, July 29 – Friday, July 30
Each session will include about 200 students. The Center for Student Engagement is collaborating with partners across campus to ensure the program meets COVID-19 safety standards.
New students also have the option of participating in one fully online, conference-style session in place of our in-person program.
Transfer Orientation
Transfer Orientation will be completed fully online beginning in June. Transfer students have signed up for registration dates, which are included below. We will be offering an optional in-person session for transfer students (currently planned for June 30) to better accommodate the needs of our incoming students.
Session 1: Tuesday, June 8
Session 2: Thursday, June 10
Session 3: Wednesday, June 23
Session 4: Thursday, July 1
We will offer additional Transfer Orientation sessions in August to accommodate students who are admitted throughout the summer.
