IT Service Desk announces change affecting Apple IDs with newpaltz.edu email addresses
This message was emailed to students, faculty and staff on Oct. 12.
Dear Campus Community,
This message is to alert you that on or about Oct. 16, you may receive a message from Apple asking you to change the email address associated with your Apple ID if the current email contains “newpaltz.edu.” If the email associated with your Apple ID does not end with “newpaltz.edu,” then you will not be affected by this change.
This change will help improve the way in which the IT department delivers applications to campus-owned macOS and iOS platforms and allows for more effective management of Apple licenses.
Once you receive the notification email, you will have 60 days to update the email associated with your personal Apple ID to a personal email address. If after the first 30 days you still have not changed the email on your personal Apple ID, you will be required to do so the next time you sign into an Apple device. After 60 days from initial notification, Apple will email you a new temporary Apple ID that you will have to change if you have not yet followed through.
Questions about this process should be directed to Apple. The IT Service Desk will only be able to answer basic questions about this process.
