Department of Residence Life extends on-campus housing cancellation deadline

The Department of Residence Life announced that the deadline for new students to cancel housing and still receive a refund on the Advance Room Deposit has been extended to Tuesday, Aug. 11.

The extension aims to accommodate students who may be waiting to receive their final, updated course schedule before deciding whether to live on campus.

While the vast majority of course sections have been assigned as in-person, online or hybrid, faculty and academic leaders are working to confirm details and course structures for a small percentage of unassigned sections.

Students who are taking a fully online class schedule are welcome to live on campus during the fall 2020 semester. The College recommends that students consult with their families to make the decision that works best for them.

Those who are scheduled to live on campus this fall and want to stick with those plans do not need to take any additional actions.

Students who would like to cancel their housing must send an email from their campus Hawkmail account to reslife@newpaltz.edu no later than 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

In that email, please include:

  • Your full name
  • Your student ID number
  • The building and room you are assigned to
  • Whether you are a first-year student or a transfer student

Please contact the Department of Residence Life at reslife@newpaltz.edu with questions. We look forward to welcoming you into our community this fall!
