College updates quarantine policy: New students must quarantine at home for seven days prior to coming to campus
SUNY New Paltz has updated its student quarantine policy for the fall 2020 semester to make the policy for new students consistent with that for returning students.
The College is now requiring new students to quarantine for seven days AT HOME prior to coming to campus, and for 14 days at home if they have traveled to one of the states on the advisory list designated by New York.
This is in addition to measures and practices students will be expected to observe during their first seven days on campus, which will reinforce safe behavior and compliance expectations going into the fall.
This precautionary measure is intended to protect our campus community and we appreciate students’ STRICT compliance with this directive.
Starting Aug. 3, new students will also be required to submit a digital daily health screening form, which can be accessed at my.newpaltz.edu. Students will receive a daily email reminder to complete the health screening.
As a reminder, when new students come to campus, they will be able to participate in Orientation II/Welcome Week in small groups based on their residence. They will be able to get to-go meals from food services. The College will be encouraging outdoor engagement, and all interactions will follow social distancing while wearing masks. These precautions allow us to welcome students back safely, while still providing opportunities for them to make connections with their new community.
