New Paltz students receive SUNY Fellowships to support ongoing education
Two SUNY New Paltz students are among the 55 recipients of the SUNY Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowships, an award designed to support recent graduates who are moving on to pursue a graduate degree at one of SUNY’s 64 campuses.
Both of the College’s Fellowship recipients this year are spring 2020 graduates who will be remaining at New Paltz for advanced study.
Alexa Marie Fini ’20 (Music: Classical Performance) is a stand-out performer and scholar in the Department of Music who provided a stirring rendition of the national anthem at the College’s 2020 virtual Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony. She will be entering New Paltz’s Master of Science in Music Therapy program this fall.
Madison Knarich ’20 (Chemistry) is a spring 2020 Outstanding Graduate in the School of Science & Engineering. She is enrolled in the College’s five-year BA/MAT Chemistry program, putting her on an accelerated track to earning a graduate degree in teaching next year.
“We are immensely proud to recognize these exceptional students from across SUNY who have worked tirelessly to excel in their fields of study,” said SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson.
The SUNY Chancellor’s Graduate Fellowships program provides a one-time grant of up to $5,000 to support students in pursuing advanced degrees. The funds can be used to defray room, board, books, technology, child care or other eligible costs of attendance.
This non-tuition scholarship is open to all students, including out-of-state residents, international students, and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients.
