SUNY New Paltz’s College Council meetings have previously been webcast in accordance with New York State Public Officers Law, section 103 (f), which directs state agencies and public authorities to webcast all public meetings.
However, in response to the ongoing public health crisis caused by the COVID-19 virus, on March 11, 2020, Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 202.1, which, in part, suspends certain in-person attendance and public accessibility provisions of the Open Meetings Law and authorized public meetings to be conducted in an alternative manner during the declared “Disaster Emergency.”
That order also authorized such meetings “to be held remotely by conference call or similar service, provided that the public has the ability to view or listen to such proceedings and that such meetings are recorded and later transcribed.”
In light of this directive, this meeting of the SUNY New Paltz College Council will be open to members of the public who wish to observe the proceedings via WebEx, the virtual conferencing application.
