SUNY New Paltz makes top 200 in Forbes “Best Value Colleges” list
SUNY New Paltz has added to its portfolio of strong third-party rankings in 2019, earning a spot in the top 200 of Forbes magazine’s “America’s Best Value Colleges” list.
Forbes’ methodology for this ranking scores colleges and universities in six broad categories: quality; net price; net debt; alumni earnings; timely graduation; and access for low-income students.
Forbes draws data from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard, the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System and PayScale, a comprehensive source of information about salary, benefits and compensation.
New Paltz came in at number 193 in this year’s Forbes Value list, out of a field of 645 U.S. colleges and universities, and recently appeared at number 173 on a similar “Best Value” list published by Kiplinger’s.

SUNY New Paltz is consistently ranked among the nation’s top public colleges by a variety of highly regarded publications. Most recently, the Social Mobility Index placed SUNY New Paltz in the top three percent nationwide in its measurement of students’ success climbing the socioeconomic ladder; the U.S. News & World Report placed New Paltz in the top 10 among all public universities in its North region; and the College was named a Military Friendly® School with an additional Gold distinction.
