This long-running tradition provides a valuable opportunity for the campus community, alongside students’ close family and friends, to recognize the dedication of select undergraduate and graduate students.
The Outstanding Graduates are truly the “best of the best”: students who have gone above and beyond as scholars and leaders in the classroom, and also in independent research experiences, engagement with clubs and honor societies, conference attendance and presentations, internships, jobs, and other co-curricular activities.
The ceremony convenes representatives of all five of New Paltz’s schools – the School of Business, School of Education, School of Fine and Performing Arts, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Science and Engineering – for an event that pays tribute to exemplary scholarship across the disciplines.
Outstanding Graduates are selected by a faculty nomination process, led by teachers and mentors who play a key role in supporting students’ intellectual and creative ambitions.
