College mourns passing of Library Circulation Manager Sheila Muller
It is with sadness that the College shares the news of the passing of Sheila Muller, circulation manager in the Sojourner Truth Library, on Dec. 16. She was 49.
Muller joined the SUNY New Paltz community in 2015. Over the course of her three years in the Library, she established a reputation for being helpful and cheerful in all her interactions with Library patrons and colleagues.
“Sheila touched many of us with her kindness, caring, generosity and thoughtfulness,” said Sojourner Truth Library Dean W. Mark Colvson. “The Library is a better place, and many here are better people, for having known and worked with Sheila Muller.”
Muller was born in Carthage, New York, and earned a degree from Jefferson Community College in 2001. Prior to joining SUNY New Paltz in 2015, she was employed at SUNY Potsdam’s Crumb Library, at the Watertown Daily Times, and at Riverview Correctional Facility.
She was also a founding member and officer of the Colts Pride Booster Club, which works to coordinate and promote activities and community engagement for Colton-Pierrepont Central School in Colton, New York.
Family and friends will announce details of a Celebration of Life in January 2019. They invite contributions be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, New York, 13601, and condolences sent through D. L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc.
