Digital Media class drops in on CBS News Studios

Assistant Professor William Hong led 18 SUNY New Paltz Digital Media & Journalism students on a trip to the CBS Broadcast Center in New York, N.Y., for a studio tour and meet and greet with David Rhodes, President of CBS News, and Elaine Quijano, anchor, correspondent, and moderator of last summer’s Vice Presidential Debate.

“The time at CBS was very eye-opening, and allowed me to see a different part of the industry I’m learning about in class every day,” said Rosalba Corrao ’17 (Digital Media Production). “We got to see the control room, the morning news set, and meet some of the workers who make CBS News happen day and night. David and Elaine were both very down to earth and eager to answer our questions about journalistic integrity, and how ‘fake news’ is changing the production of news stories.”
